Tip for working with yarn

Rip it! Rip it!
When working with yarn, frogging means to pull out a bunch of stitches at once.  You rip out your work... rip it, rip it... now you're frogging!

Once you've frogged a length of yarn, you can easily create a center-pull mini-skein of yarn between your work and the skein with this trick for making a little yarn cacoon.

Hold your thumb up close to your work like you're hitch-hiking.  Take the yarn from the skein and begin winding it up and around your thumb.  When you're done, slip it off your thumb and begin working again.

This also works well with new skeins of yarn where the yarn may be a little snug coming out of the skein.
