Sweetheart Ripples Reversible Afghan

Just in time for Valentine's Day, I'm working on this Sweetheart Ripples Reversible Afghan that has hearts on one side and a traditional ripple pattern on the back.

I purchased the copyrighted pattern from Annie's Attic.  I'm using Caron Simply Soft in Bone and Black. I don't typically purchase patterns because there are so many free ones online and even though it's a very simple pattern, I'm glad I did.

Directional Colors Scarf

I'm currently making this Directional Colors Scarf from Lion Brand with Amazing® yarn in Olympia.  If you make this, I would recommend using a different color choice.  Olympia is a blend of blues and grays and there isn't much contrast.  Contrast is what makes this scarf fun and makes the pattern POP!

The pattern is very easy since it's just a stocking stitch.  To make it even easier, you should learn to knit backwards!  It's fun and keeps you from having to turn your work.  Go ahead and try it, it's good for the brain.

Long Lasting Eye Shadow

The ONLY product I have tried that actually works.  My eyeshadow lasts all day without creasing.  Ask your M.A.C. cosmetician for a recommended color.

Tip for working with yarn

Rip it! Rip it!
When working with yarn, frogging means to pull out a bunch of stitches at once.  You rip out your work... rip it, rip it... now you're frogging!

Once you've frogged a length of yarn, you can easily create a center-pull mini-skein of yarn between your work and the skein with this trick for making a little yarn cacoon.

Hold your thumb up close to your work like you're hitch-hiking.  Take the yarn from the skein and begin winding it up and around your thumb.  When you're done, slip it off your thumb and begin working again.

This also works well with new skeins of yarn where the yarn may be a little snug coming out of the skein.
